Our visit to the Makgadigadi was considerably enhanced by the presence of “Super”, our 6′ 4″ Zulu guide. He came to Botswana aged 1 and has never gone back to Natal.

We stayed at Jack’s Camp, which is a decor throwback to the 1970s, but very iconic and in a marvellous location.
Jack’s Camp without Super would have been like toast without marmalade!
Super ensured that we saw all that the Makgadigadi had to offer and more.

We walked and hunted with the Meerkats of the Kalahari, which was very special.
We quad biked around the salt pans, which was enormous fun.
We witnessed the migration of 40,000 Zebra to the Boteti river, which was extraordinary.
We viewed the biggest elephants that we have seen so far in Southern Africa, which was surprising considering the harsh environment.

The Makgadigadi is a unique in many ways. The vast, deserted salt pans will turn into lakes full of shrimps and frogs once the rainy season arrives. Pelican, Flamingo and many other wading birds will descend to feast until the water disappears in the dry season. It is a region of very distinct seasonal change, of large animal and bird migration and of enormous geographical significance

All in all, an amazing and unforgettable place.

Thank you,
Best Regards,
