Day Thirteen – Potholes and Punctures

Blog — By on October 4, 2012 5:39 pm

A tough day’s riding today, the most tiring we have experienced to date. 270km mostly dirt.

We are now firmly inside the Eastern Cape where they must pocket the Road Repair budget and spend it down the pub.

Also we are getting quicker….most of the time heading up to 90kph on dirt. This is a risky combination as the potholes are upon you before you know it.

I bottomed my suspension completely and could not believe the rim had survived. Sam was less lucky and a good hammering on the front tyre split the tyre and punctured the inner. An hour later we had finished wrestling with a stubborn tyre and we were back on the road.

Worth a mention that we chanced upon 3 lions on our way out of the game park this morning.

Everyone pretty tired. Early night called for.

Big day tomorrow almost 400km.
